EDITION DE LUXE Brook and River Trouting Edmonds & Lee north country flies book
BROOK AND RIVER TROUTING. A MANUAL OF MODERN NORTH COUNTRY METHODS. With coloured illustrations of flies and fly-dressing materials. Edmonds and Norman N. Boards a little rubbed along edges as usual, some foxing to edges of card mounts but still a very good example of an exceedingly scarce and important book. Deluxe first edition limited to only 50 individually numbered copies, this being number 48. Signed by both authors. Circular bookplate (Bibliotheca Piscatoria Lynniana) on verso of front end-paper, being the bookplate of noted angling book collector J. Lynn, who has also signed his name on the limitation page. ND (1916) 1st edition. 4to (190 x 256mm). Seven photogravure plates, mostly depicting river scenes, plus one illustrated plate of natural flies. Eleven thick card mounts with real examples of silks, fly-dressing materials and finished flies. Fully bound in dark blue buckram, upper board and spine titled in gilt, all edges gilt. Edition limited to 50 copies. Pictures show the actual copy being offered for sale. Any questions please ask. One of the standard books on the subject of north country flies. First published in 1916, the standard edition was limited to 1000 copies and has become an increasingly scarce and sought-after book. This is the Edition de Luxe, limited to only 50 individually numbered copies, this being number 48, and signed by both authors on the limitation page. Whilst the standard edition is often praised for its excellent colour plates of flies and the materials with which to dress them, this deluxe issue goes one step further and includes real flies, tied to the authors’ specifications by that most famous of fly-tying firms Hardy Bros. Of Alnwick, along with samples of the fly-dressing materials used in the tying of each fly. The flies are mounted within oval frames on thick card plates arranged throughout the first half of the book. There are eleven card plates in total, the first contains real samples of twenty-two different shades of tying silk, each shade is numbered and these numbers are referenced in the tying instructions of each of the flies described in the book. The remaining ten thick card plates each have two oval mounts on each side except for the final plate which has one oval mount on one side and two on the other. Each of these oval mounts contains an actual north country fly, tied to a short section of fishing line and attached to the board with a small circular sticker. Mounted beneath each fly are samples of the materials used in the dressing of that pattern. Some may have several materials (hackle, dubbing, herl) whilst some of the more simple patterns have only one material – the hackle, the body being made of tying thread. A particularly lavish production, especially given the fact that it was produced at the height of the First World War. Privately published by the authors, the Edition de Luxe was apparently mostly given away to family members and wealthy associates of the authors. It has gone on to become one of the most prized books for the serious fly fishing book collector and is very rarely offered for sale. Much of the book’s value, quite aside from its beauty and extreme scarcity, is that it represents a rare opportunity to see the flies as the authors intended them to be seen. The delicate proportions, the subtle differences in shades of silk, the sparseness of hackle – in fact everything that one can only truly appreciate from seeing the flies in the flesh, as it were, rather than looking at a photograph, illustration or written description. This copy, with the’Bibliotheca Piscatoria Lynniana’ bookplate and signature of noted angling book collector J. All in all a very good example of the best issue of one of the most important of all fly-tying books. This item is in the category “Books, Comics & Magazines\Antiquarian & Collectable”. Aldous Huxley’s profoundly important classic of world literature. Is a searching vision of an unequal, technologically-advanced future where humans are genetically bred, socially indoctrinated, and pharmaceutically anesthetized to passively uphold an authoritarian ruling order-all at the cost of our freedom, full humanity, and perhaps also our souls. “A genius [who] who spent his life decrying the onward march of the Machine”. , Huxley was a man of incomparable talents: equally an artist, a spiritual seeker, and one of history’s keenest observers of human nature and civilization. His masterpiece, has enthralled and terrified millions of readers, and retains its urgent relevance to this day as both a warning to be heeded as we head into tomorrow and as thought-provoking, satisfying work of literature. 1st. Edition Young Adult/childrens Fiction Completed Chapter Book Manuscript
It is approximately 76000 words written for the Young Adult /Children’s genre. I wrote this several years ago when our daughter was little. She always wanted me to tell her a story before bed, one night I started to tell her this story and she loved it so much, she told me that I should write it down and make it a book. I did not realize that it was not the writing of the book that was the most difficult; the actual uphill challenge begins when trying to publish said book. It is a very good story and I believe it will make a great movie. The original title was. The Adventures of Raven and Rayne, The Journey To Bytar. I decided to change that sometime later to the new title, which is. The Sorcerer And The Eclipse. You will also own all rights to this content. Hence the asking price… It is written using Microsoft word, 12pt. Times New Roman with one inch borders. Et me say thank you to “the reader” for taking your valuable time in reading this and God Bless to you all. I think the real question is: are YOU the one for this project and can YOU make it happen. I really hope so.. Below is a small excerpt from Chapter One. The Siblings: First you must walk then you can fly.. As Nicias approached the small stone buildings near the edge of town his vision was drawn to what could only be described as an old farmhouse. The large building had been painted red, but due to the years of heavy wind and rain it was now falling apart; he knew the captain would be inside. Nicias had traveled by horseback for the last two days but after arriving at the town last night he decided to continue the rest of his journey on foot. It was during this time he had on more than one occasion seen the drunken remnants of some of the captains army here and there sprawled out like sleeping bears in the dark corners of some of the smaller buildings. The sun was beginning its peaceful transition into the sky and his quiet walk had only been disturbed by the occasional outburst of girls laughter or the sound of a bottle being broken in the distance. He was on a mission so the smell of horses and smoke in the air did not deter him as he approached the partially opened front door of the farmhouse. I will respond to all questions as fast and accurately as I can. Thank you so much. International customers- Please remember. The item “1ST.
