1898 Antique ALICE IN WONDERLAND Lewis Carroll 1800s Victorian Book Illustration

This is a gorgeous Victorian copy, and a must-have for serious collectors. Though 125 years old, it is absolutely in readable condition! I have not found any other copies of this one for sale ANYWHERE. The handwritten note at the front says it was printed May 21, 1898. From the note, it is possible that very very few exact copies of this exist; this could be the only one. There is only one major flaw, the spine is a bit separated as seen in image 7. This is not at all unusual for the age; and is repairable. This is very much reflected in the price; I’m listing this as a steal in hopes that it lands with someone who will cherish it. There is some general wear, rubbing and fading to the cover, bleached patch on front cover. Front cover is quite pulled up to the flyleaf, baggy to back cover, but binding to pages is good. Small name inscription on flyleaf, and some marks to the flyleaf where some pencil scribbles have been rubbed out. Some age browning and dirt marking to the pages. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (27 January 1832 14 January 1898), better known by his pen name Lewis Carroll , was an English writer. Of children’s fiction, notably Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. And its sequel Through the Looking-Glass. He was noted for his facility at word play. And The Hunting of the Snark. Are classified in the genre of literary nonsense. He was also a mathematician, photographer, inventor and Anglican. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is an 1865 novel. By English author Lewis Carroll. (the pseudonym of Charles Dodgson). It tells of a young girl named Alice. Who falls through a rabbit hole into a subterranean fantasy world populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense. The tale plays with logic. Giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as with children. Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There is an 1871 novel by Lewis Carroll. And the sequel to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Again enters a fantastical world, this time by climbing through a mirror into the world that she can see beyond it. There she finds that, just like a reflection, everything is reversed, including logic e. Running helps you remain stationary, walking away from something brings you towards it, chessmen are alive, nursery rhyme characters exist, etc. Conditions are Very Good. Some wear to edges/case, pages/hinges/text blocks are very good! I like to send off after a week or so. Bubble wrapped and then wrapped in cardboard and mailed in a bubble wrapped envelope in most cases.
