THE VOLUME IN THE PHOTO IS FOR EXAMPLE ONLY. (box in photo is an additional cost). History of the Manuscripts. Joseph Smith kept the original manuscript himself and eventually deposited it in the cornerstone of the Nauvoo House when it was being built. When the Nauvoo house was torn down in the early 1900’s, the original manuscript was discovered. It had been water damaged over the years in storage. The good sheets were divided between those present. All of these pages found their way into private libraries and are not on display to the general public. The largest portions are in the LDS Church library and the Wilford C. Occasionally, a very few photocopies of individual pages have appeared in official LDS Church publications over the years. History of the Book of Mormon Printing’s. The first edition of the Book of Mormon came out in March of 1830. The 1840 and 1842 Nauvoo editions were the last two editions printed in Joseph Smith’s lifetime. In 1869, Brigham Young had the 1842 edition reprinted in his newly invented phonetic alphabet. Apostle Orson Pratt was in charge of the 1879 revision, which was the first version with verses and foot notes. Apostle James Talmage was in charge of the 1920 revision, which put the text into two columns and changed the footnotes. McConkie was a key influence in the 1981 revision with new foot notes, cross references and a revised Topical Guide. As these editions were printed in following years, the printing dates were updated without changing the text. Thus, the text of all Books of Mormon dated from 1921 to 1980 is the same as 1920. In summary, there are seven regular English versions of the Book of Mormon officially printed by the authority of the LDS Church in America (1830, 1837, 1840, 1842, 1879, 1920, and 1981). Of these seven different versions, the 1837 Kirtland edition is the most rare. There are multiple reasons for this; one is that very few were printed. Another is that time has taken its toll with the old leather and paper to the point that many of these have deteriorated into nonexistence. A third reason is that this edition contained the largest portion of the major changes that are still printed in today’s modern edition. Please take the opportunity to view some of my other auctions as many of the titles I stock are out-of-print and no longer available at most book stores. FIRST NAUVOO EDITION OF THE 1840 BOOK OF MORMON (Third edition overall), CREATED BY ONE OF THE. FIRST NAUVOO EDITION OF THE 1840 BOOK OF MORMON (Third edition overall). An Account Written by the Hand of Mormon, Upon Plates Taken from the Plates of Nephi. Nauvoo[ILL]: Printed by Robinson and Smith, for the Author, 1840. OWNING THIS BEAUTIFUL, LEATHER BOUND, NUMBERED, DIRECT TRANSFER OF THE FIRST NAUVOO EDITION OF THE 1840 BOOK OF MORMON IS CERTAINLY AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY FOR US ALL. THE VOLUME IS HAND BOUND AND LOVINGLY, EXPERTLY CRAFTED WITH A HEAVY, STURDY LEATHER BINDING, AGED IN APPEARANCE TO MIMIC ITS ORIGINAL COUNTERPART AND RECREATING EVERY SINGLE WORD ORIGINALLY TRANSCRIBED BY THE PROPHET JOSEPH SMITH. EACH BOOK HAS BEEN HANDCRAFTED AND AGED 185 YEARS TO SIMULATE THE ORIGINAL 1840 BOOKS. EVERY BOOK IS DONE PERSONALLY BY BOOK BINDER STEVE BLAKE WHO WAS INSPIRED AFTER HAVING A FIRST EDITION IN HIS FAMILY FOR MANY YEARS, DECIDED TO RECREATE THIS VOLUME SO EVERYONE COULD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN THEIR OWN. EACH BOOK IS NUMBERED AND SIGNED. DUE TO IT BEING HANDCRAFTED, NO TWO BOOKS AGING WILL LOOK EXACTLY ALIKE. WHAT AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY TO BE ABLE TO OWN THIS ONE-OF-A-KIND PIECE OF AMERICAN HISTORY AND ARGUABLY ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL SPIRITUAL WORKS OF OUR TIME. THE QUALITY IS OUTSTANDING AND WILL LAST ANOTHER 187 YEARS. It had been water-damaged over the years in storage. The largest portions are in the LDS Church Library and the Wilford C. Apostle Orson Pratt was in charge of the 1879 revision, which was the first version with verses and footnotes. McConkie was a key influence in the 1981 revision with new footnotes, cross references and a revised Topical Guide. Of these seven different versions, the 1837 Kirtland Edition is the most rare. There are multiple reasons for this, and one is that very few were printed. There’s been some confusion regarding these volumes, which I regret and will attempt to correct. If you will read the description, it clearly states that the book is recreated from an original copy owned by the publisher. It is a direct print from an original copy of the book. Each of the volumes is individually hand crafted by one of the most gifted, dedicated and truly inspired artists in this discipline. Some of the work might take a bit longer to create and the materials, sources are harder to collect. In any event; we promise the prices asked are not intended to be egregious. One situation that should be mentioned is that the LDS Church has requested the insertion of a discreet marker, within each produced work, to help prevent the re-sale of these volumes as authentic, original, period pieces. The origin of the book, as it is a direct copy from the printers own family owned volume, and the fact that it is entirely handcrafted by the printer himself, puts this work in the same category as a print done from an original by, as an example, Norman Rockwell (the first artist who comes to mind). It is a limited edition replica print that is unique and actually quite rare. Repertoire by Asi Wind, Limited Edition Magic Book, First Edition NEW. This volume presents an extensive collection of Asi Winds repertoire that stretches over the last two decades. Asi’s style of performance has led him to devise magic that seems as fair as it gets and magic almost happens by itself. These routines that have been kept under wraps for many years are laid out here for the first time in great detail. Asi also revisits several routines he published in the past and brings them up to date with added details and features that he developed over the years while performing them. This elegant leather-bound book, written by Asi Wind with John Lovick includes nearly one hundred original watercolor paintings by Asi, illustrating twenty-one routines. A borrowed, signed bill vanishes and reappears under a spectators wristwatch. Asi Winds Any Card at Any Number. Out of the Blue. Nearly impromptu version of Brainwave. Color divination of a shuffled deck. A card divination under test conditions. Shuffled Any Card at Any Number. Predicting the locations of two freely selected cards. A Chair Test that doesnt use chairs, combined with a Bank Night, where the contents of the envelopes are related to the people onstage. The Trick That Never Ends. A spectator cuts to any card he names. Selected, Torn, Marked, Stabbed, Crumpled, Burnt, Restored, & Transported Page. A spectator chooses one of several books. Page is torn out of the book, it gets burned, and it reappears in the book, burnt edges and all. Make No Mistak e – A visual color change that corrects two (intentional) mistakes. A spectator removes a group of cards from different parts of the deck behind the spectators back. That card vanishes and reappears reversed in the middle of the pack. Reverse Engineer – A spectator blindly reverses a card in the deck, and that card happens to be the card he named. Divining two cards that have been removed from different parts of the deck beyond the spectator’s back. A deceptive way to secretly fold a card into fourths. A useful nonchalant force. Two Triumph effects back to back. Shuffled Card at Any Number. A new treatment of a classic plot that has been attributed to Johann Nepomuk Hofzinser suit selection. A sympathetic effect with two decks and a surprise kicker. The item “Repertoire by Asi Wind, Limited Edition Magic Book, First Edition NEW” is in sale since Saturday, August 3, 2019. SPARE, Austin Osman, A Book Of Satyrs, First Edition, 1907, signed and numbered
SPARE, Austin Osman, Introduction by James Guthrie. A Book Of Satyrs. Co-operative Printing Society Limited. 17.25 x 13 inches. Original buff paper covered-boards with title and decorative device on front cover, plain parchment spine. Text printed on thick laid paper. Decorative title page plus reproductions of twelve full-page black and white line drawings, as well as a number of smaller decorations. Introduction by James Guthrie. Edition Limited to 300 numbered copies, signed by Austin Osman Spare. As always with this volume there has been some offsetting from the plates onto the (blank) versos of the facing pages. This is a very attractive copy of an extraordinarily handsome book, inscribed by Spare himself (despite the limitation statement not all copies were signed, and very few seem to have been inscribed). Kate Bush How to be Invisible signed limited first edition and print
This is my last copy – presenting a signed limited edition of Kate Bush’s “How to Be invisible”, published by Faber and Faber, presented in a solander box and accompanied by a limited edition print. These are end-of-run copies from the original print run and so are not numbered (they did not constitute one of the 500 signed/numbered copies). The print me asures 27cm x 19cm – the lyrics are gold and printed on a heavy cream card, ideal for framing. I do have a number of prints available, so will include an extra one for this sale only. Signed by the author, presented in a solander clamshell box and accompanied by a limited edition print in a matching red envelope. Please note – this copy is NOT numbered, being one of the “spare” publisher copies, produced in very few numbers the event that any of the print run were damaged or defective during printing. This is reflected in the price. Details : For the first time ever, How to Be Invisible: Selected Lyrics draws together lyrics from Kate Bush’s extraordinary 40-year career in music. Personally selected by the artist herself, the volume stands as a testimony to Kate Bush? The Special Deluxe Edition of How to Be Invisible: Selected Lyrics is the ultimate volume for the Kate Bush listener. Signed by the author, numbered and presented in a solander box, this very limited edition fully reflects the beauty, humanity and complexity of Kate Bush’s work. Accompanying the collection is an expansive introduction from David Mitchell, author of Cloud Atlas. The edition arrives quarter bound with real book cloth spine and paper panels. Author and title on spine are blocked in gold foil, together with the title repeated in braille on the front panel. The book’s text is 90gsm Munken Premium Cream wood-free paper, and the book is completed by marbled endpapers, gold head & tail bands and gold ribbon. Also included is the exclusive letterpress print’Aerial Tal’. This arrives printed in gold on Canaletto Velino 300gsm paper, housed in a paper envelope. Publisher: Faber & Faber.
