Born at sea, he set a pace, exporting Coal. I have a short biography (PDF) which I can pass on to the purchaser should they not widh to research the man themselves. The book measures approx, 22cm by 28.5m, 108pp. Illustrated frontis tissue protector detatched but present. No other illustration in the publication ever bore a tissue protector. The book is complete and tightly bound with no loss. Occasional spots of foxing and edge toning, else very good. The half leather bindings are also in a good general condition with some surface marking a rubbed spine fascia and some cracking to the top of the rear joint. For anyone that grew up reading the adventures of Heros the Spartan in the Eagle comic, with the dramatic, colourful centre-spread drawn by the legendary Frank Bellamy, the publication of this book was a dream come true. The large 14.5″ X 11.5″ publication gave full scope to the amazing images and imaginative adventures, just how you would want those incredible pages reproduced. These books seemed to come and go so quickly on the market and now are extremely hard to find. This copy is in immaculate condition, without a single mark. A true collector’s item.

Large-paper illustrated edition hard back binding in publisher’s original half vellum – grey paper sides – gilt title lettering to the spine – top edge gilt – other edges uncut. Number 17 of 75 Limited Edition copies for sale in England and the United States, containing the original Signed lithograph, which has been taken off the stone after printing. Printed pages of text with 37 tipped in colour plates with lettered paper guards and 36 monochrome illustrations by Brangwyn. Condition: Wear to outer boards – dent to top edge of spine – foxing to endpapers front and back – text block firm and clean with minor age toning to uncut edges of pages – all tipped in plates present and in good condition – minor crease to corner of one (see image) – previous owners name James R Bruce-Lockhart to inner cover. (James R Bruce-Lockhart was a British diplomat, intelligence officer, author, and artist) – see all images for condition. Dimensions: 15 3/4″ high x 11 3/4″ wide x 2 1/4 thick. A good example of a scarce book by Frank Brangwyn which will be a great addition to any library.
