A limited de luxe edition, being number 19 out of 500 copies. Signed by both the author and the artist to the half title. With a monochrome engraved etching by the renowned artist Michael Ayrton, created for this limited edition. A limited edition of Muriel Spark’s sinister and comedic gothic novel set in a mansion, where a Baron, Baroness and their secretary are hidden behind the locked doors of the library. In the publisher’s original quarter cloth. Externally excellent with only a very minor closed tear to the paper to the front board, and sunning to the front. Internally firmly bound with clean and bright pages. Fine – Very well preserved copy showing very little wear. Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy. Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones. Often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy. Meaning not very good. Some more serious faults as will. Be described in the condition report under’condition. Good Only – Meaning one or more faults that could really do with repair.
