Reporters Without Borders has been publishing its signature collections of photos by the world’s greatest photographers for 20 years. They have become its main source of income. Coincidentally, Martin Parr, member of Magnum Photos, is offering us twenty previously unpublished photos among the hundred or so he is letting us use for this new format in which he pursues the cliches to be found in the eternal lag that keeps the tourist at a permanent distance from his destination…. Martin Parr (born 23 May 1952) is a British documentary photographer, photojournalist and photobook collector. He is known for his photographic projects that take an intimate, satirical and anthropological look at aspects of modern life, in particular documenting the social classes of England, and more broadly the wealth of the Western world. Since 1994, Parr has been a member of Magnum Photos. He has had around 40 solo photobooks published, and has featured in around 80 exhibitions worldwide – including the international touring exhibition ParrWorld, and a retrospective at the Barbican Arts Centre, London, in 2002. In 2019 he had an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, London – it was held in great esteem, with rave reviews from Time Out, Evening Standard, and The Daily Telegraph.
