Published by London: William Heinemann & New York: Dodd, Mead & Company, 1901., 1901. A very heavy book at 6kg packed. Red cloth with bright gilt titling. Gilt to top edge others uncut. A stunning portfolio of plates printed on India paper. 61 large and 8 small plates all with labelled tissue guards, collated. X, 121 pages text, with some light foxing from the uncut pages, tome is square and tight. Spine slightly sunned and couple of light stain marks to boards. All engravings are clean and sharp, some plates have occasional foxing spot but these are limited to the edges not on any engraving. A very good copy. This 1901 limited edition collection of Raeburn’s works includes an introduction by R. Stevenson, a well-known artist who was a cousin of Robert Louis Stevenson. Biographical and Descriptive Catalogue by J. Caw (Curator of the National Portrait Gallery of Scotland). Printed at the Ballantyne Press, London. The copper plates, in and out of the text, were made by Messrs, T. Annan and Sons from photographs specially taken for this volume. The photogravures were printed by Messrs. Annan, Charles Preston, and Messrs. Robert Alan Mombray Stevenson was a well-know and popular artist and a cousin of Robert Louis Stevenson. He served as Portrait Painter to His Majesty in Scotland.
