In 2018, boundary-breaking visual and sonic artist Cosey Fanni Tutti received a commission to write the soundtrack to a film about Delia Derbyshire, the pioneering electronic composer who influenced the likes of Aphex Twin and the Chemical Brothers. While researching Delia’s life, Cosey became immersed in Derbyshire’s story and uncovered some fascinating parallels with her own life. At the same time Cosey began reading about Margery Kempe, the 15th century mystic visionary who wrote the first English language autobiography. Re-sisters is the story of three women consumed by their passion for life, a passion they expressed through music, art and lifestyle; they were undaunted by the consequences they faced in pursuit of enriching their lives, and fiercely challenged the societal and cultural norms of their time. The extent is 400pp, TPS is 234 x 153mm, printed 1/1 on 80gsm Munken Premium Cream FSC paper, the book’s sections are sewn, with WBN Grey endpapers, Winterbrand head and tail bands, cased in Skivertex Vicuana artificial leather over 2500 micron FSC boards, with title blocked in red foil and Re-Sisters waveform motif blind debossed, with a rounded spine. On the inside back panel of the book there is an 8pp letterfold printed CMYK on one side with a triptych of images from the writings of the three protagonists printed on 120gsm Munken Pure. Beneath the book are two recessed panels in inner tray containing. 1 x lead-free pewter erotic pilgrim brooch with Re-Sisters waveform motif, in velvet pouch with description label printed in black. 1 x red audio tape cassette with Music to Read By composed and performed by Cosey Fanni Tutti in a colour-printed cardboard sleeve. The cassette has A and B sides containing approx sixty mins of audio. Red ribbon to remove cassette from recess.
