Roy Lewis (1913 – 1996) was an English journalist and small-press printer. For ten years in the 1950s, he was Washington correspondent for The Economist and then a feature writer on The Times. In 1957, while still working as a journalist, he set up the Keepsake Press, a private printer of limited editions in Ravenscourt Square, Hammersmith, London. The Death of God, subtitled “a Curious Narrative Dream Dreamed By Roy Lewis in the Year MCMXLIII When He Was Living in Dibrugarh in Assam and on Waking Recollected and Written Down By Him” was published by the Keepsake Press in 1959. The book is hand-set in a Gothick typeface (described in the book as’a reverent type’), with initial capitals cut in lino by Roy Lewis’s daughter Elizabeth. The publication, limited to 60 copies, was dedicated to Gordon Symes, who liked the fantasy when he first read it in India. This is a rare and very collectable publication. Approximately 270 x 205mm (10.5 x 8in); the book has just 16 pages. And please follow me, as I regularly add other publications from my collection.

A signed limited 1st edition of the well received debut novel from Scottish author and senior NHS Director Gareth Brown, a book released as a special Goldsboro Books edition. The Book Of Doors’ published by Bantam in London on 15 February 2024 as the trade edition, 1st edition, large modern hardback, (viii) + 408 pages. Flat hand signed by the author at a special title & limitation page, this is one of the 500-run limited edition version of this special Goldsboro release (they also prepared a special 2000-run individually numbered edition as their chosen book for members in February 2024). In fine unread condition, all sides of the text block are sprayed with a yellow on dark blue design with the book title written in white to the fore-edge, this edition has a blue ribbon page marker, dustjacket in a removable protective plastic sleeve. The book has a minor storage lean from its time with publisher/Goldsboro. An uncommon version of this book, being only a 500-run limited edition, compared to the 2000 signed & numbered edition also released via Goldsboro. This edition has a different gilt design to the boards, an alternative dustjacket design, a ribbon page marker, a revised sprayed edge finish design and plain endpapers. Because some doors should never be opened. New York bookseller Cassie Andrews is not sure what she’s doing with her life. She lives quietly, sharing an apartment with her best friend, Izzy. Then a favourite customer gives her an old book. Full of strange writing and mysterious drawings, at the very front there is a handwritten message. This is the Book of Doors. Hold it in your hand, and any door is every door. Cassie is about to discover that the Book of Doors is a special book – a magic book. A book that bestows extraordinary abilities on whoever possesses it. And she is about to learn that there are other magic books out there that can also do wondrous – or dreadful and terrifying – things. Because where there is magic there is power and there are those who will stop at nothing to possess it. Suddenly Cassie and Izzy are confronted by violence and danger, and the only person who can help them is Drummond Fox who has a secret library of magical books hidden in the shadows for safekeeping, a man fleeing his own demons. Because there is a nameless evil out there that is hunting them all. Because this book is worth killing for. Addictive, brilliantly written and utterly irresistible. The Book of Doors. Is the spell-binding, mind-bending, heart-pounding new adventure that is perfect for fans of. A Discovery of Witches. I will be regularly listing items for sale, please save me as one of your favourite sellers for the future, thanks.

GILLIAN WEARING I'M DESPERATE - LIMITED EDITION BOOK OF 1500 First Edition
I’M DESPERATE by Artist Gillian Wearing RARE Limited Edition of 1500 First Edition Published in 1997. VERY GOOD CONDITION – LIKE NEW. 16 x 24cm near fine paperback, an edition of 1,500 copies featuring single page colour reproductions of images created by Gillian Wearing between 1992-93. Wearing’s mission:’Signs that say what you want them to say and not Signs that say what someone else wants you to say. Each individual holds a sign particular to them. Gillian Wearing’s powerful and provocative film, video and photographic works question the nature and construction of personal identity. I’m Desperate is one of a series of five photographic portraits titled Signs That Say What You Want Them To Say and Not Signs That Say What Someone Else Wants You To Say, in which members of the public revealed their private thoughts and feelings on hand-written signs. For Dancing in Peckham, the artist recorded herself dancing in a busy South London shopping centre to the bewilderment or indifference of passers-by. Wearing’s intimate understanding of the language of documentation explores the gap between public and private experience. The artist was a recipient of the Turner Prize in 1997.
