UK (Gladestry): Scorpion Press, 2008, hardback with clear acetate wrapper. Not shown in the images due to. Limited edition number 10 of 80 numbered copies, 260 pages, 9. With an appreciation of the author by Denise Mina. Signed by the author on the limitation page. This edition is bound in leatherette and marbled boards using the sheets from the first edition by agreement with Orion. With a vast collection but limited wall space, the National Gallery has many more valuable works of art in storage than it could ever display. The plan is to stage a heist at the Granton storage depot on “Doors Open Day” during which a selected group of paintings will be “stolen”. The gang will then give the appearance of having panicked and fled without the works of art, but will have switched the real paintings with high quality forgeries good enough to convince anyone investigating the matter that no theft has been committed. Intrigued, Mike willingly helps set that plan in motion. As they begin to plan it out, it becomes clear that they need some “professional assistance” and a chance encounter with Chib Calloway, a local gangster who Mike went to school with, fulfils that need. A signed limited 1st edition of the well received debut novel from Scottish author and senior NHS Director Gareth Brown, a book released as a special Goldsboro Books edition. The Book Of Doors’ published by Bantam in London on 15 February 2024 as the trade edition, 1st edition, large modern hardback, (viii) + 408 pages. Flat hand signed by the author at a special title & limitation page, this is one of the 500-run limited edition version of this special Goldsboro release (they also prepared a special 2000-run individually numbered edition as their chosen book for members in February 2024). In fine unread condition, all sides of the text block are sprayed with a yellow on dark blue design with the book title written in white to the fore-edge, this edition has a blue ribbon page marker, dustjacket in a removable protective plastic sleeve. The book has a minor storage lean from its time with publisher/Goldsboro. An uncommon version of this book, being only a 500-run limited edition, compared to the 2000 signed & numbered edition also released via Goldsboro. This edition has a different gilt design to the boards, an alternative dustjacket design, a ribbon page marker, a revised sprayed edge finish design and plain endpapers. Because some doors should never be opened. New York bookseller Cassie Andrews is not sure what she’s doing with her life. She lives quietly, sharing an apartment with her best friend, Izzy. Then a favourite customer gives her an old book. Full of strange writing and mysterious drawings, at the very front there is a handwritten message. This is the Book of Doors. Hold it in your hand, and any door is every door. Cassie is about to discover that the Book of Doors is a special book – a magic book. A book that bestows extraordinary abilities on whoever possesses it. And she is about to learn that there are other magic books out there that can also do wondrous – or dreadful and terrifying – things. Because where there is magic there is power and there are those who will stop at nothing to possess it. Suddenly Cassie and Izzy are confronted by violence and danger, and the only person who can help them is Drummond Fox who has a secret library of magical books hidden in the shadows for safekeeping, a man fleeing his own demons. Because there is a nameless evil out there that is hunting them all. Because this book is worth killing for. Addictive, brilliantly written and utterly irresistible. The Book of Doors. Is the spell-binding, mind-bending, heart-pounding new adventure that is perfect for fans of. A Discovery of Witches.
