A special limited slipcased edition, with a signed & numbered press pass, of the highly regarded photographic commentary of the 2016 US Presidential Election campaign (ending with Donald Trump’s defeat of the favourite, Hillary Clinton, to become the 45th President) from award-winning English documentary photographer and photojournalist Martin Parr. Conventional Photography’ published by Harper’s Books, New York in 2017, 1st edition, large quarto softcover in French flaps, the book measures 12in x 8.5in, 116 pages. No text, colour photographs throughout. The book had a total run of 538 copies to match the number of US Electoral College votes. This is one of the special limited edition copies of only 100 available, which came with a signed press pass. This one is signed by Martin Parr to a DNC Press Pass evidently from an event in Philadelphia and he has hand numbered this as being 47/100. In fine unread condition in a fine specially produced card slipcase. Commissioned by CNN to document both the Republican and Democratic conventions, Martin Parr’s’Conventional Photography’ provides a window into the American political psyche at the dawn of the Trump era. Shot in his signature style emphasizing at once the banal and the outlandish, Parr deconstructs the divide between red and blue states in a full-bleed color haze.
