This was the first paperback printing of. In the UK, published under Penguin’s beloved Puffin imprint, and it has since become a highly collectible mid-century edition. This copy features Tolkien’s own maps of Thror’s Map and the Wilderland, both intact and beautifully preserved. The classic wraparound cover artwork captures the Company’s journey through the Misty Mountains – one of the most recognisable covers of its era. The book shows moderate wear consistent with age. Spine creasing and partial splitting (title still legible). Corner wear and small chips to spine ends. Light page tanning typical of early Puffin paper stock. Binding sound; all pages firmly attached and complete. No missing or loose pages, and both maps are present.
