Powell comes the first in a new epic sci-fi trilogy exploring the legacies of war. The sentient warship Trouble Dog was built for violence, yet following a brutal war, she is disgusted by her role in a genocide. Meanwhile, light years away, intelligence officer Ashton Childe is tasked with locating the poet, Ona Sudak, who was aboard the missing spaceship. What Childe doesn’t know is that Sudak is not the person she appears to be. A straightforward rescue turns into something far more dangerous, as Trouble Dog, Konstanz and Childe find themselves at the centre of a conflict that could engulf the entire galaxy. If she is to save her crew, Trouble Dog is going to have to remember how to fight.. From award-winning author Gareth L. Powell, the second book in the critically acclaimed Embers of War space opera series. The former warship Trouble Dog and her crew of misfits is called upon by the House of Reclamation to investigate a distress call from the human starship the Lucy’s Ghost. Recovered war criminal, Ona Sudak, faces a firing squad for her actions in the Archipelago War. But, at the last moment, she is smuggled out of her high security prison. Then her vessel intercepts messages from the House of Reclamation and decides the Trouble Dog has a capacity for violence which cannot be allowed to endure. BSFA Award-winning author Gareth L. Powell delivers an explosive conclusion to his epic Embers of War trilogy. Low on fuel and hunted by the Fleet of Knives, the sentient warship Trouble Dog follows a series of clues that lead her to the Intrusion–an area of space where reality itself becomes unstable. Meanwhile, Cordelia Pa and her step-brother eke out their existence salvaging artefacts from an alien city. But when Cordelia starts hearing the city’s song in her head, strange things start happening around her. What extraordinary affinity does she have for this abandoned technology, and how can it possibly help the Trouble Dog? Award-winning author Gareth L. Born to the Dark. SIGNED by artist Glenn Chadbourne + Ramsey Campbell. Lettered 1st Edition of 26 ONLY (this copy being un-lettered). Housed in a Custom Traycase. Deluxe Extra Large Edition. + Silk Ribbon Markers (book + Traycase). 26 lettered copies in a custom-made [oversized] traycase including 26 pieces of interior artwork by Glenn Chadbourne, signed by Glenn and Ramsey. Dominic Sheldrake has never forgotten his childhood in fifties Liverpool or the talk an old boy of his grammar school gave about the First World War. When his history teacher took the class on a field trip to France it promised to be an adventure, not the first of a series of glimpses of what lay in wait for the world. Soon Dominic would learn that a neighbour was involved in practices far older and darker than spiritualism, and stumble on a secret journal that hinted at the occult nature of the universe. How could he and his friends Roberta and Jim stop what was growing under a church in the midst of the results of the blitz? Dominic used to write tales of their exploits, but what they face now could reduce any adult to less than a child. This item is in the category “Books, Comics & Magazines\Books”. Dark Forces 25th Anniv Edition Lonely Road Books Lettered PC (Stephen King)
A PC copy of the lettered edition of Dark Forces: 25th Anniversary Edition from Lonely Road Books, featuring (but not signed by) Stephen King. This is a bit of a publishing milestone – the lettered edition of the first book from Lonely Road Books, a spin-off of Cemetery Dance Publications with a much less frequent publishing schedule and a higher-end bent. A very nice package altogether, and sought after by both King collectors and the broader S/L and “nice books” collecting community. The traycase is a really beautiful gold color with red stamping. Check out the pictures! It’s in Near Fine shape, with only the barest bumping to the spine of the traycase – most other editions I’ve seen are similar, due to the large size and heavy book. The dustjacket has just great art, and is in perfect condition, but it’s hard to take a good picture because of the Brodart cover (which is one of the reasons it’s staying perfect, so unlike some other auctions I did not remove it to take pictures). The book is also Near Fine, nicely bound and with stamping. The boards and page edges are beautiful (pictures). The spine is Near Fine, maybe Fine because the slight lips on the top and bottom are due to the enormous page block (the pictures – look at them). The interior is pristine with the exception of a very small imperfection at the bottom of the first 2 pages (see pictures). They’re not even like creased or torn or anything – they’re actually pretty hard to see but I really strive for accuracy in my listings (which is why I post a lot of pictures of the actual book that you should go look at). Overall, this is a rare book, well preserved for the past 13 years, and a high note in the small press publishing world. It’s signed by a great group of illustrators, most especially Bernie Wrightson, the artist who produced the dustjacket art and is well known for his high profile Stephen King collaborations. This will of course be wrapped very nicely! It’s quite the beast and will receive the loving packaging it needs to be sure that it arrives to you unharmed. 1980 Introduction Kirby McCauley.
