Offered here is an exceptionally rare, original 1906 first edition of The Tiffany Studios Collection of Notable Antique Oriental Rugs. Published by Tiffany Studios, New York, and printed by The University Press, Cambridge, this is Copy No. 235 of a strictly limited run of only 500. Unlike the modern reprints often seen online, this is the authentic version. This copy features a formal, hand-written presentation inscription dated November 1906. The script is highly stylized and ornate, typical of the period. To my eye, the inscription appears to read: Presented to G. However this is only my interpretation and is not a guaranteed identification. This book is 100% Complete. Contains the original tipped-in color frontispiece and all black-and-white images/ plates. Interior: The pages show natural age-appropriate toning and mild yellowing, which is standard and desirable for paper from this era. Text and rug illustrations are sharp and legible. The spine and corners show typical shelf wear and softening expected of a 120-year-old book. Overall: A sturdy, well-preserved example of one of the most important textile catalogs of the 20th century.
